Junior Exploration Geologist

About the role

The Junior Exploration Geologist supports exploration programs aimed at identifying and delineating economically viable gold deposits. The role covers field mapping, sampling, drill program support, data collection and geological logging under the supervision of senior geological personnel. It is based on the OKO West project, with office time split between Georgetown and Bartica.

Key responsibilities

• Field exploration: geological mapping and structural interpretation, collecting and documenting rock, soil, trench and stream sediment samples, assisting with geochemical and geophysical surveys, and supervising trenching and pitting.
• Drill program support: logging RC and diamond drill core, marking core for sampling, ensuring QA/QC, coordinating core cutting and sample dispatch to accredited labs, and monitoring drilling contractors.
• Data management and reporting: capturing and validating data in exploration databases, keeping field notebooks and digital records, preparing daily, weekly and monthly reports, and assisting with resource modelling and geological interpretation.
• HSE compliance: following company HSE policies, conducting risk assessments before field work and promoting safe and environmentally responsible practices.
• Logistics and camp support: coordinating field supplies and equipment, supporting camp operations during field rotations and maintaining geological equipment.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Geology, Earth Sciences or a related field.
• 0-3 years' experience in mineral exploration (gold preferred).
• Valid driver's licence (4x4 experience preferred).

Required skills

• Basic understanding of structural geology and mineralization controls.
• Experience with core logging and sampling is an asset.
